BIO:
I’m an Emmy-nominated and commercial award-winning producer with expertise in video, stills, and experiential activation work. I gravitate toward projects that shine a light on overlooked communities in both documentary and narrative worlds. I’ve written and produced for networks such as National Geographic and YouTube Originals. Roles I’ve taken on in both narrative and documentary genres include line producer, agency producer, and director. I’m a creative thinker and problem solver; on any given day, that could mean working with the director and/or client to restructure a script to meet budget realities, to executing logistics for a remote shoot in rural France.
My personal projects focus on Asian American & women’s issues. I am a 2022 recipient of the New York Foundation of the Arts NYC Women’s Fund for my documentary Laying the Last Track, which links the forgotten legacy of the Chinese railroad workers who built America to current-day racism Asian Americans like myself face.
In 2020, I wrote and directed I Am Not Your Model Minority, a short documentary commissioned by McCann Worldgroup that examines the Asian American experience in the early days of Covid. The film contextualizes our experience through a historical and cultural lens.
From 2016-2018, I worked on She Is Syria, a documentary series that tells the story of Syrian women living in exile in Europe & Armenia. It featured Olympic Refugee Team swimmer Yusra Mardini and refugee activist Sarah Mardini, both of whom spoke at the 2016 United Nations General Assembly through my work with Global Citizen. She Is Syria video content & photo essays have been featured in The New York Post, Marie Claire, Refinery29, Brooklyn Live TV, and the Berlin Unframed Festival.
I’m currently based in NYC where I live with my son and a 10-year-old chihuahua mix, which might give you an idea of how I manage (and yes, enjoy) organizing chaos.
